Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
More a result of other sexually transmitted diseases, it results in scarring of the organs within the pelvis that can lead to infertility. The following conditions can all lead to PID: STD’s, unprotected sex, bacterial viginosis, douche, IUD, recent abortion or have had the condition before. Most women associate symptoms with more common STD’s not knowing it may influence their ability to bear child. Like any infection, it may result in a fever and some cramping that may heighten during intercourse. Any abnormal symptoms should be consulted with your doctor asap to assure you get the proper treatment and prevent future problems.
Antibiotics can be effective but only if they are used as directed and the treatment regimen completed, without which may result in a recurrence of the condition. Left untreated, it can spread to other organs thus eliminating the ability to bear children that is more than often too late for people who take their symptoms fore granted. Best caught early, proper monitoring and aggressive treatment is advised to lessen complications in later life.
