Sexual songs lead to increased sexual activity

It seems that being repeatedly exposed to songs with subtle to overt sexual references lead to increased sexual behavior among adolescents. This is according to a recent study.
In an article published in the April 2009 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, researchers found that teenagers who preferred popular songs with degrading sexual references were more likely to engage in intercourse or in pre-coital activities.
Health experts are concerned that these may lead to an increase in the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases and teenage pregnancies as teens tend to have more irresponsible sexual behaviors, which are further encouraged by sexual lyrics.
